Tumkur, Feb 12: In a tragic incident that took place in the district, three students, who went to swim in the Gubbi Lake in the district, lost their lives due to drowning.
The deceased are identified as Darshan, Srinivas and Nandan. In total five students went to swim and three died due to drowning.
All the students were residing in Gubbi hostel for SC and ST. Out of the deceased, Darshan and Srinivas were studying in the ninth standard, while Nandan was a student of eighth standars.
Fire service personnel and police have reached the spot and further efforts are on bring the bodies from the lake as well as sending them to post mortem.
