Bangalore: Minister Announces Power Cuts

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Nov 11: Most districts of the state have been experiencing unscheduled power cuts, with many places going without power supply for most parts of the day.

State energy minister, K S Eshwarappa, said that with effect from Tuesday November 10, power cuts would be affected at the rate of one hour per day for Bangalore, 12 hours for rural areas and four hours every day in other urban centres. His explanation for the power cuts was that demand for power in the state has seen a sudden spurt, and that the state’s power generation stood at 11.8 crore units while the demand is around 12.5 crore units.

Although officially the said power cut has been announced, the power cuts that have been unofficially affected at all places around the state since the last several days, exceed the cuts announced by the minister by a big margin.
