Karkala: Man falls to death as areca nut tree snaps

Karkala, Mar 16: After an areca nut tree broke into two when a man who had scaled it was harvesting areca nuts, the man fell and lost his life. This tragic incident happened at Sankalakariya in Mundkur village on March 14.

Vasu Shetty from Kalladi in Sankalakariya had gone up one of the areca nut trees in his house for harvesting areca nuts. During this period, the stem of the tree suddenly broke and Vasu fell and suffered serious injuries. He was immediately admitted into a private hospital at Kinnigoli. But unfortunately, his life could not saved.

The deceased is survived by wife, a son, and a daughter.
