Udupi, Dec 15: Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt here reiterated on Sunday December 13, that ethically, Nagarjuna Power Plant is not right in going ahead with its work at its site located at Nandikoor near Padubidri.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion of his visit to Srikrishna Mutt’s programme on digitalization of manuscripts found in the archives of the Mutt, he gave the above opinion, speaking to reporters.

“The issue is in the court. The company officials have not got any official permission to continue with its works. It has failed to pay justifiable compensation to the people who have lost their lands and houses,” he opined.

The Swamiji said that he will try to convince the state Chief Minister about the fact that continuance of the power plant works is not justifiable. “If the work continues to be executed even after this, the people will take to agitational path through protest programmes supported by me,” he added. When his attention was drawn to a statement attributed to the office bearers of Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti that the works at the plant can not be suspended just because of the Pejavar Swamiji wants it, the Swamiji refused to react.
