Bantwal, Apr 20: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that 34 people are placed under home quarantine with regards to the death of a woman due to coronavirus in the taluk.
Nalin was speaking to the scribes after holding an emergency meeting under the leadership of MLA Rajesh Naik at Mini Vidhana Soudha in the town.
Giving further details Nalin said, “28 people including family members of the deceased woman, secondary contacts and neighbours and six health personnel of the hospital are kept under home quarantine. Instructions are given to concerned officials to take more preventive measures after this incident.
“Steps will be taken to ensure that no inconvenience will be caused to the people of seal down area of Bantwal market area. Daily essentials will be supplied to them through war room of MLA and taluk administration.
“The situation of the affected area will be monitored every alternate day through video conferencing with the PDOs. No street vendors will be allowed. Vegetables, fruits and fish will be sold only at the grounds earmarked by the officials for the same. Instructions are given to the officials to identify grounds at Bantwal, B C Road, Melkar and Kalladka. ASHA workers will also monitor by visiting every house.
“Police are given more powers. Instructions are given to take strict action on people, who wander in streets without any valid reason, for the next 10 days. Public is requested to cooperate with the administration.
“The team of MLA Rajesh Naik is doing an excellent job already to address the issues of the villagers through the task force committees. MLA has given ration to families who does not hold a ration card,” he said.
MLA Rajesh Naik Ullipadiguthu, tahsildar Rashmi, taluk medical officer Dr Deepa Prabhu, DySP Valentine D’Souza, executive officer of taluk panchayat Rajanna and other officials were present.
