Udupi: Krishi Pandit Award for Vedavyasa Acharya

Udupi, Dec 23: State agriculture department has selected farmer K R Vedavyasa Acharya of Kudigrama, Hiriadka here for Krishi Pandit Award 2008-09.

He has been selected for the award recognizing for growing multi-crops such as arecanut, plantain, cardamom and pepper through proper utilization of water. Overall agricultural and cultivation methods employed by him too have been taken into consideration before his selection. 

Acharya is currently the member of Udupi District Farmers’ Association and also the vice-president of Brahmin Mahasabha, Hiriadka zone. He has earlier won the first place for paddy cultivation in a taluk-level competition held in 2003-04,
