Udupi: Ratna Ratha to be Offered to Lord Krishna on Dec 24

Udupi, Dec 23: The preparations are on to offer Ratna Ratha, a chariot studded with diamonds and eight other types of gems, a presentation by paryaya seer Puthige Mutt seer Sugunendratertha Swamiji in memory of Kanakadasa, his gurus late Vibudeshateertha Swamiji of Admar Mutt and late Vidyamanyateertha Swamiji of Palimar Mutt to Udupi Math Lord Sri Krishna.
 
The chariot will be taken out in a procession from Jodukatte on Thursday December 24 at 6pm and will be welcomed at Rajangana traversing K M Marg, Kanakadasa Road and Car Street. Dharmastala dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade, Sringeri Mutt managing trustee Gowrishankar and Energy Minister K S Eshwarappa among others will be participate on the occasion. Various cultural troupes will take part in the Shobhayatra. Performance by Tibetan dance troupes and troupe of traditional chende players from kerala will be the main attractions. Later, a Yakshagana episode, Airavata and Attanige Aata will be held in front of the Gita Mandir.

CM’s to Arrive in Udupi on Dec 26

On Friday December 25, various rituals such as homa and havens will be held. Krishnarpana, a programme will be held at Rajangana at 9.00 am. 

On Saturday December 26, Lord Krishna’s first ascension to the chariot will be undertaken by Pejawar seer and Chief Minister B S eddyurappa will be present during the programme.
