Karwar: Accident near Bhatkal – Three Killed, Seven Injured

Karwar, Dec 24: After a private bus carrying the students going on an educational tour, and a Mahindra Bolero vehicle carrying people returning from a marriage, collided head on at Bangaramakki, Bengre near Bhatkal on national highway on Wednesday December 23 evening, three people were killed on the spot. Seven others were injured. All those killed and the injured except one, were travelling in the Bolero vehicle.

The deceased have been identified as Rama (50), driver of Bolero from Kerala, Srikumar Ravindra (11) from Sangli Palus and his sister, Srilakshmi Ravindra (9). The driver’s skull was smashed, and the bodies of the children were badly mutilated in the accident. The vehicle was mangled beyond recognition. The injured, Sugendra Kumaran, Kumaran’s sons, Ravindra and Mahendra, Nisha Ravindra, Sajita Mahendra, Unikrishnan Ravindra, who were in the Bolero, and Pushpalata, who was travelling in the bus, were injured.

The private bus from Ramanagar, Bangalore, was carrying children to Kollur from Murdeshwar. The Bolero was moving to Sangli in Maharashtra from Kerala.
