Mangalore: Vishnu Demise - KRV Steps In to Stop Film Show

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Dec 31: On Wednesday afternoon, some Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) activists visited Adlabs, where a film was being screened, in violation of a decision taken by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and Karnataka Film Exhibitors Federation, to suspend exhibition of films in the state for a day as a mark of respect to the departed Sandalwood hero, Vishnuvardhan, to stop the show.

The theatre was showing the Hindi movie, ‘Three Idiots’ at the time. The activists of Samara Sene, a constituent of KRV, urged the theatre management to stop the show. Initially, the theatre was reluctant to oblige, as the show had started about 30 minutes earlier.  After a few minutes of confusion, the theatre agreed to suspend the show and refund the money to the viewers. The viewers dispersed peacefully thereafter.

KRV (Pravin Shetty faction) district unit president, Annaiah Kulal, said that the theatre had been asked over phone to stop film exhibitions, by giving it 30 minutes time to do so. As the theatre management did not oblige, the activists had to approach the theatre management to ensure that they fall in line with the decision taken at the state level, without giving rise to any friction or untoward incident, he clarified.

A few schools and colleges, which had opened for the day before a decision was taken to declare a holiday, functioned normally on Wednesday, while most others did not function.

Kannada belongs to region beyond the Ghats. Mangalore is strictly Tulu Nadu! These lumpen elements should be thrown out of Tulu Nadu.

I fully support KRV in this matter. Even in Suvarna TV News Channel ,it was informed that Film industry and Kannadigas all over the state were upset that Mangaloreans didn't respect Vishnu.Yes..they are right too.I have grown up watching Vishnu and Raj cinemas.Vishnu's death hurt me very badly. Being a Malayali,I mourned Vishnu's death by fasting.

Kumar, a very apt comment. Another fact is, there are many 'wise' people in Mangalore who take pride in thinking that they are not Kannadigas. They have a sense of allergy towards Kannada & believe that they are english born
