Belagavi, May 2: DCM and transport minister Laxman Savadi said that bus transport will be allowed from May 4 in taluks which are not under red zone.

Speaking to the scribes in the city, Savadi said, "Taluk-wise corona hotspots are identified. Bus transport will not be there in taluks in which the coronavirus infection is reported. In rest of the taluks including rural areas buses will start plying from May 4."

Speaking on charging double fare to migrant workers, Savadi said, "This occurred due to some misunderstanding. Arrangements are now made to send them back to their native place on normal charges only. In order to maintain social distancing, we have to send few people in the bus. When the bus returns after dropping the migrant workers in their native place, it has to run empty. Even then we are shouldering the burden."

Responding to the demand that free bus service should be provided for the migrant workers, Savadi said, "We have already provided help to the labourers through the labour department. Whole world is reeling under the ill-effects of corona. This burden should be shared by everyone. We have to be patient."
