Start-ups lauded for work on finding solutions to COVID 19

Bengaluru, May 14: Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan has warmly appreciated the work of Start-ups in finding solutions to the global pandemic COVID 19 with regard to devising a vaccine, medicine and quick testing technology.

Dr Narayan, who is himself a medical doctor by profession, visited Bengaluru Bio Innovation Centre on Thursday where 45 startups are working round the clock to find a vaccine, medicine and quick testing technology for the pandemic Covid 19.

He interacted with the young entrepreneurs and appreciated their efforts to find an affordable for finding a medicine, testing methods and vaccine the Covid 19 at the earliest.

''I am glad that all start-ups here are working tirelessly to find a solution to the pandemic. Some are at clinical trial stage while a few have already applied for with the competent authorities for conducting tests,’’ the Deputy Chief Minister said.

To ensure proper coordination between the companies and the State Government, the Deputy Chief Minister said that he would set up a coordination panel to ensure that the bio tech companies work more effectively.

Dr Narayan directed Additional Chief Secretary (IT and BT) E V Ramana Reddy to constitute the committee. 

The Deputy Chief Minister unveiled the Programmable Robot that would separate the Saliva from the swab in no time. The robot developed by S N Life Sciences has an ability to test eight different samples at a time, he said. 

Dr Narayan was impressed at the variety of innovations at the Bio Innovation Centre and encouraged the entrepreneurs. 

``This is a great sign for Bengaluru, Karnataka and India,’’ he said adding that a quick solution will help to ensure a balance between life and livelihood. He also appreciated the efforts Neuome Technologies Pvt Ltd which has a technology that enables on-the-spot testing within 5 minutes for asymptomatic as well as symptomatic cases.

He also visited the Centre for Human Genetics and Bio Informatics and inspected the lab.
