Mangaluru: Fighting pandemic takes backseat as people attempt to transfer DC

Mangaluru, May 19: For some, coronavirus can wait. At least this is the signal their action at trying to get the deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district transferred seems to suggest.

It is gathered that a lot of behind-the-scene efforts are on to transfer the deputy commissioner of the district. Some influential leaders who have vested interests want to bring administrative changes in the district administration, as per sources. A senior official confessed that such efforts are currently on.

On Monday, social media was agog with rumours that the immediate transfer of the DC and the additional DC was imminent.

There has been widespread resentment over the inability of the concerned to reach to the origin of coronavirus infection in more than one case. In view of the widespread flak it encountered on this issue, the district administration reportedly is unhappy and planned to take strict action.

However, if the DC is transferred now for whatever reason, there is a risk of sending wrong signals and there is a likelihood of such a measure coming across public spat and being viewed with suspicion.

I hope the public stay strong and support the DC & not let politicians play dirty politics at such times.

We have best DC in DK now. Transferring DC will not help anyone. Please people of DK and politicians should support our DC.
