Mumbai: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy helps artistes

Mumbai, May 25: Konkani artistes were facing economic hardships due to the ongoing lockdown as a result of COVID-19. It had badly impacted their livelihood. In the circumstances, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy identified 138 eligible beneficiaries and deposited with the cooperation of minister Ravi of the department of Kannada and culture an amount of Rs 2,000 each to their bank accounts.

The academy thanked minister C T Ravi, department chief secretary Jannu, director S Rangappa, Rajesh, registrar, Kumar Bekkeri and the members for their work.

“As there are requests for compensation from more number of artistes, their eligibility will be reviewed and a decision to release the requisite amount will be taken,” said Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president, Dr Jagadish Pai in a press release.
