Bengaluru, May 30: The administrations are finding it hard to find out those who hoodwink the authorities and enter through stealth and also those who have provided a false address to escape quarantine.

Many, the authorities now realize, have provided wrong addresses at the check posts. The staff deputed for the purpose often come across false addresses. Several provided a false address to escape quarantine and the staff find that people with that name have never lived at the addresses given.

After getting permission to travel to other states, people have come back to their homes. The staff become helpless when they find that the addresses given were wrong. The issue is complicated as thousands of people have returned to their villages during lockdown from cities like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru and Davanagere. If any of them had an infection, the villages are bound to suffer. Therefore, the information collected at the check posts is being sent to taluks through the district administration. The panchayat development officers and ASHA workers coordinate the work under the supervision of village accountants. They are expected to find out the people who recently came from other states and report on their current health status. But because of the wrong information, the workers have to waste time searching for them, preparing reports etc.

Experts feel that the persons providing false information can be detected through either Adhar card or mobile network location. But the time and expertise needed for this task are not available. The people need to provide correct information to the authorities in their interests but they do not seem to realize the seriousness of their actions.
