Mangaluru: Meteorological department predicts delayed arrival of monsoon

Mangaluru, Jun 4: The officials in the meteorological department have said that there is a possibility of the monsoon winds hitting coastal Karnataka late as the monsoon which hit Kerala coast on Monday has become weaker.

Rainfall has withered in Kerala. There is a chance of the monsoon entering Karnataka on Thursday or Friday. The department, which has issued an orange alert for the coastal regions on Thursday, expects heavy rain here. However, the officials say that the chance of Nisarga cyclone making any impact on the state's coastline is very less.

The quantum of rainfall in the district was less on Wednesday. There was good rainfall on Wednesday morning and night. No report of losses was received.

Kasargod district also experienced good rainfall with strong wind on Wednesday. After a tree got uprooted on Kasargod higher second secondary school, water tanker of the school was demolished.
