Bantwal: Thrashed by young men, boy now faces POCSO case

Bantwal, Jun 4: A 16-year-old boy, a video clip of whom getting beaten up by some youth at the Kadumath school ground in Kolnadu village was shared on social media, and for which he had earned a lot of sympathy from the public, has now been booked under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

After a girl filed a complaint against the boy for sending vulgar messages to her through social media and also for posing threats to her, the Vittal police registered a case against him.

It is said that the boy was beaten up on April 21 by four persons including Dinesh from Kanyana because of the fact that he had sent obscene messages to the girl in question. The video of this attack had become viral on May 27 on social media. Thereafter, the boy had filed a complaint in Vittal station on May 28. The girl filed the said complaint on June 2. With the case getting an interesting twist, the boy stands produced in the court.
