Mumbai, Jun 11: Monsoons have already arrived and BMC is running behind schedule concerning its preparations for bracing with the rains.
However, one of the major reasons for this unpreparedness can be attributed to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, where Maharashtra has already become the epicentre for infection in India. The monsoon preparations were scheduled to be completed by the second week of June at the latest.
Not only are all major pre-monsoon preparation - Desilting nullahs and stormwater drains, repairing roads, and curbing monsoon-related illnesses - well behind schedule, infrastructure projects such as the coastal road and metro are also facing huge delays due to the shortage of migrant workers.
