Mumbai: Rs 5 lac worth marijuana bought on darknet, 2 men arrested

Mumbai, Jun 14: Mumbai Crime Branch (unit IX) arrested two people including the son of a renowned shop-owner from Mahim with marijuana worth Rs 5 lac. The accused had reportedly bought the drug from the darknet. One of the most common drugs in the market, marijuana is particularly consumed youngsters and gets sold at a cost of Rs 2,400/gm, TOI reported.

The team of detectives led by inspector Mahesh Desai and Sanjeev Gawde on Friday held Faiz Bhiwandiwala (25) and his friend Arif Usman Mithaiwala at Marva compound in Bandra (West) and recovered 224gm of marijuana from them. On arrest, the arrested told police they got the drugs by courier.

Arif is the son of shop-owner Usman Mithaiwala, while Bhiwandiwala is a Gulf returnee who has been unable to leave India due to the corona-imposed lockdown.
