Mangaluru: Night curfew comes into effect - Shops to be closed by 8 pm

Mangaluru, Jun 30: As per the government instruction, night curfew between 8 pm and 5 am is being enforced from Monday, June 29 onward. During this period, only transport vehicles and vehicles connected with essential services will be allowed to ply. Shops and establishments cannot remain open after 8 pm.

In Mangaluru, night curfew was strictly implemented which was announced by the police over mikes well before the deadline to the shopkeepers. However, in Udupi, the shops remained open even after 8 pm, and vehicles moved about normally even after the curfew hour began on Monday.

Udupi district administration and police department have undertaken precautionary measures. Five lockdown violation cases have been registered in Udupi district. The police will be checking vehicles at respective checkposts. The police also stated that whenever felt necessary, vehicles moving on the roads at night will be subjected to checks.
