Bengaluru, Jun 30: A doctor who advised a patient suffering from high blood pressure to undergo a corona test, and the driver of an ambulance, were roughed up by a crowd. This incident happened at Sahakara Nagar here, and the scene was captured on CCTV.

Doctor of the private clinic, Dr Jagannath, and the driver of the ambulance, were assaulted by a crowd on Sunday night. The driver lost a couple of teeth in the attack.

A person had collapsed at his home due to high blood pressure. The family members had brought him to a clinic at Sahakara Nagar. The doctor checked and prescribed medicine. In view of his current condition, he advised the relatives to admit him into another hospital and also felt that conducting a corona test is recommended in view of the increasing number of such patients.

As a number of young men had come to the hospital with the patient, the staff began to conduct thermal screening for them. The men did not want to get themselves screened and this gave rise to an altercation between the youth and the staff.

When putting the patient inside the ambulance, one of the miscreants derided the doctor with abusive words. The doctor questioned his attitude at which the crowd attacked the doctor and posed him a death threat, it is said. The ambulance driver, who objected to the attack on the doctor, was also beaten up, resulting in the uprooting of his teeth.

The driver however did not lose his cool and got the patient admitted into another hospital. The doctor has filed complaint at Kodigehalli police station relating to the incident. The police are trying to locate the accused with the help of the CCTV footage.
