Kundapur, Jul 1: “The district administration is taking necessary precautions to curb the spread of coronavirus amidst fear of its community spread. Detailed discussions are held with officials, health department officials about hospitals, treatment facilities, quarantine, the process of sealdown and opinions are obtained,” said state minister of fisheries and Mujrai minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary. He spoke to media reporters after receiving public complaints at Kundapur mini Vidhan Saudha on Wednesday.

“Discussions are being held over another lockdown as the virus is spreading. Retired officials and health sector experts have suggested tightening restrictions. We are thinking over taking decisions without hindering normal life. The chief minister will be taking a decision to that effect,” he said.

“Discussions were held in Mangaluru in the presence of retired officials, scientists and elected representatives of three districts in the coastal region on sensitive situations of fishing, undisciplined fishing, cage farming and other problems of fishermen in detail. A decision on creating employment through cage farming and fisheries to people who have returned from abroad losing their jobs will be taken after discussions,” he said.

Kota sub division officer K Raju, tahsildar Anandappa Naik, municipal council chief officer Gopalakrishna Shetty, taluk panchayat member Karuna Poojary, BJP district chief secretary Sadananda Uppinakudru, district BJP SC Morcha president Gopala Kalanje, APMC member Sudheer K S, municipal council member Girish Devadiga, former municipal council vice president Rajesh Kaveri, taluk panchayat former president Bhasker Billava and others were present.
