Karnataka: Conman held for duping people on pretext of promising jobs

Bengaluru, Jul 2 (IANS): A conman who has duped people to the tune of Rs 1 crore on the pretext of providing them government jobs and releasing pending amounts has been arrested in the city, an official said on Thursday.

"Shivakumar Hosalli, who cheated a lot of people promising them jobs in government department and also releasing pending amounts has been arrested," told Central Crime Branch (CCB) Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Kuldeep Jain to IANS.

Hosalli made false promises of getting contract money for works carried out in Public Works Department (PWD) to be released and swindled up to Rs 1 crore from ten people.

To trick and convince the unsuspecting people, Hosalli used to throw around the names of state Chief Minister and his family members.

"He also misused the name of Chief Minister and his aides to dupe people," added Jain.
