Kundapur based sportsman dies in Kuwait due to coronavirus

Kundapur, Jul 17: Former athletic champion of Bhandarkar’s College, Kundapur, a well-known Kabaddi and Volleyball player, a 56-year-old resident of Kharvikeri in Kundapur has passed away in Kuwait on Thursday, July 16 due to coronavirus infection.

He was employed at a company in Kuwait. He fell sick a few days ago and was found to be infected with coronavirus after undergoing medical tests. The man was then admitted for treatment in a hospital in Kuwait for the last 22 days. However, he had stopped responding to the treatment and passed away. His body was cremated in Kuwait itself as per his family sources.

The deceased was a famous sportsman in Kundapur back in the 1980s and had also trained several young sportsmen. He had worked in UAE for several years before going to Kuwait a few years ago. He is survived by wife, three daughters, mother, brother and sisters. Several people have poured in condolences on receiving news of his death.
