Kaup: Advice against overuse of mobile, offended lady ends life

Kaup, Jul 27: Sowjanya (21), a resident of Saninje in Ellur village near Padubidri committed suicide on Saturday July 25. She felt offended at the advice given by her parents against getting addicted to mobile phone.

Sowjanya was a student of a college at Udupi. She was interested in appearing for the chartered accountants test. Her cousin had provided her with a mobile phone to enable her to attend online classes. But her parents observed that she used her phone mainly to play games. They had advised her against overuse of mobile phone, it is learnt.

Hurt by this advice, Sowjanya consumed poison on Saturday night and fell ill. She was admitted into hospital but her life could not be saved.

A case of unnatural death was registered in Padubidri police station. Police are investigating.
