Hassan: MLA Preetham Gowda unwilling to become corporation chairman

Hassan, Jul 28: Hassan MLA, Preetham Gowda, who has been chosen by the chief minister B S Yediyurappa to head Jungle Lodges and Resorts Corporation, has declined to accept the post.
He gave the response after his name was announced by the chief minister for the above position. "I happen to be the only BJP MLA from this district. Yediyurappa has given me this post by treating me as the chief minister of Hassan district. I am grateful for the confidence reposed by him on me. But I do not need this post. I am just 39 and intend to remain in politics for 40 more years. I am aspiring to complete a marathon race, and will not be satisfied with the 100 metres dash. I am not in a hurry to bag a post carrying a lot of powers and I am not interested in taking a post that is equal to the position of a minister," he stated.
Preetham said that no one should understand his denial as a symbol of discontentment or rejection. He added that he never was expecting to be the chairman of a corporation.
