Udupi, Jul 31: The deputy commissioner has relaxed restrictions imposed outside containment zones with effect from August 1 while those in the containment zones will continue. Complete lockdown will continue in the district till August 31.

Schools, colleges, educational and training institutes, film theatres, swimming pools, auditoriums and assembly halls will continue to remain closed till August 31. Yoga centres and gyms will be permitted to open from August 5.

Wearing of masks and maintaining social distance will be mandatory. Spitting in public places is banned. Violators will be fined.

A maximum of 50 people can be present at weddings. Only up to 20 people are permitted during the final rites. Consumption of liquor, paan, gutka, tobacco etc is banned in public places. People above 65 years and children below 10 years are asked not to come out of their houses.

Criminal cases under respective sections will be registered against those who violate the regulations, said the deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha.
