Udupi: Gold ornaments at cheap rate - Cheating complaint filed

Udupi, Aug 3: A cheating complaint has been filed in the town police station here. The complainant has claimed that a person who promised to procure gold ornaments at a low rate cheated him after collecting the money.

As per the complaint, Uday Poojary from Mathadabettu here wanted to perform his younger sister's marriage. For this, Ramesh from Hospet had made him believe that the former's grandfather was in possession of many gold ornaments and that he would help Uday in getting these ornaments at very less price by convincing his grandfather.

Uday Poojary believed Ramesh. On July 29, Ramesh and his grandfather Venkappa, collected Rs 12 lac from Uday, it is said. Thereafter, Ramesh switched off his mobile phone. Uday Poojary has said that Ramesh has cheated him by not providing the gold ornaments after collecting cash and he has become untraceable.
