Kasargod: Customs officials arrest two, confiscate gold

Kasargod, Aug 8: The customs officials at Kannur airport arrested two persons and seized 932 grams of gold from their possession, when they were trying to smuggle it into the country.

The arrested men happen to be Mohammad Nisab (22) from Nellikunje Pudiyapura, and Hamza (31), resident of Agartimoole, Bekur. Nisab was carrying 465 grams of gold while Hamza had 477 grams of gold with him.

The duo had arrived by a flight from Dubai which reached Kannur airport on the evening of August 6. They had hidden the gold in the form of strips inside the trolley bag. During checks, the gold was found. Market value of gold seized has been estimated to be about Rs 48 lac.
