Mangaluru: Snatching of chain from shop owner's neck - Accused held

Mangaluru, Aug 10: As per reports, Mulky police have arrested a youth who sped away in his scooter after yanking away a golden chain worn by the lady, who owns a shop near Charanthipete, Mulky.

The arrested accused happens to be Siddiqui Akbar (30). The police said they have recovered a two-sovereign gold chain and a scooter that was used for the crime. The value of these items has been put at Rs 1.25 lac.

During the lockdown period last month, a person who approached a shop belonging to Seetha Gopalakrishna near Charanthipete, had shown interest in buying biscuits. He, however, had suddenly snatched away the lady's chain and then escaped in his scooter. The incident was recorded in the CCTV camera of a nearby building. A case was registered in Mulky police station relating to this incident.
