Mangaluru: Vinay A Gaonkar takes charge as DCP

Mangaluru, Aug 10: Vinay A Gaonkar took over charge as the new deputy commissioner of police (crime and traffic) in the city police commissionerate here on Sunday August 9. He has come in place of deputy commissioner of police, Laxmi Ganesh, who was transferred to Bengaluru rural district on Friday.

Gaonkar was the assistant police commissioner of the CCRB unit here. He was promoted as deputy commissioner of police by the government.

Gaonkar had earlier worked in various police stations in the city. He also was the inspector of the anti-rowdy squad here for several years.
