Mangaluru: Independence Day celebrated at Bajjodi

Mangaluru, Aug 15: The parishioners of Infant Mary Church Bajjodi, gathered together on August 15 to celebrate 74 years of Independence and the feast of Assumption of our Lady.

The day began with a Eucharistic celebration at 6.30 am celebrated by the parish priest, Fr Ivan D'Souza followed by the flag hoisting ceremony at the church ground organized by the ICYM members.

Raveena D'Souza welcomed the gathering. The programme was presided over by the chief guest Francis Maxim Moras, senior traffic warden. The tricolour flag was unfurled by the chief guest, along with parish priest Fr Ivan D’souza, companion priest Fr Patrick Lobo, vice-president Joseph Mascarenhas and secretary Irene Pinto.



The command was given by Vreethan Pinto. The National Anthem was sung after hoisting the flag. The chief guest delivered the message to the gathering on the significance of Independence Day. The programme was compered by Kreethan Dsouza. ICYM members sang a patriotic song that lifted the spirit of unity and patriotism among those present. Riyana Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.
