Puttur: P Umesh chosen for President's police medal

Puttur, Aug 17: P Umesh,currently serving as the vice principal of Police Training School at Mysuru has been chosen for the President's police medal. This medal is given annually on the occasion of Independence Day. He is from this city and currently a resident of Kutpady, Udupi.

Umesh joined the police department as a constable in the year 1993. He served the department at Mangaluru and Udupi. In 2002, he appeared for the examination for promotion and got selected as sub-inspector. He was posted to the district armed reserve police force. He was a part of the special task force set up for operations against forest brigand, Veerappan. He was in that force till Veerappan was killed. 

He later was promoted as deputy superintendent of police. Since 2016, he has been serving at the police training school. He had bagged the chief minister's medal in 2017.
