Mangaluru, Aug 18: Rainfall has resumed with vigour in Kodagu district after a brief period of respite. The people are still recovering from landslide and other devastations including floods last week caused by a heavy downpour. 

Strong wind has caused the temperature to plummet and chilly weather has enveloped the district. Madikeri, Bhagamandala, Napoklu and Tala Kaveri areas are getting excessive rainfall. 

In the meanwhile, the coastal area got normal rainfall on Monday morning. In the afternoon, some areas got heavy rainfall. Most of the places in the twin-districts including Mangaluru, Puttur, Beltangady, Bantwal, Sullia etc got intermittent rainfall. Udupi city received drizzle along with wind all through the day. The rains intensified at night. 

Hosanagar in Shivamogga district received 23 cm rainfall, which was the highest in the state. Kollur received 21 cm, while Kundapur got 12 cm rainfall. The meteorological department has predicted good rainfall in the coast and most areas in interior Karnataka till Wednesday morning. It has issued an orange alert for August 18 and a yellow alert for August 19 and 20.
