Chitradurga, Aug 18: In an incident which happened during late night hours on Sunday August 16, a gang which visited Nayakanahatti town in the district to steal the pigs raised in a farm there killed three persons who resisted their attempt.

The piggery farmers who lost their lives in this incident were Seenappa (55), Yallesh (22), and Marappa (25). They were asleep next to the pig shed. It is suspected that they were killed by a gang of pig thieves. About 80 to 100 pigs are suspected to have been taken away by the gang.

This gang with eight to ten members had visited Nayakanahatti a week back for stealing of pigs in a vehicle. However, Seenappa and his son had succeeded in driving them away. Before leaving, they had reportedly warned that they would come back to settle scores.

All the three were killed in a barbaric manner. Two bodies were lying on the two sides of the road. Seenappa's skull was sliced away. His torso could be found but not the skull. The police are searching for the skull now. Senior police officials visited the spot and observed that Yallesh and Marappa were killed with boulders and sharp weapons while Seenappa's throat was sliced away.

Chitradurga district superintendent of police, G Radhika, said that the murders happened at Torekolammanahalli road in Nayakanahatti. She said that prima facie the murdered people had resisted the thieves. She said that as per Seenappa's wife's account, a gang had arrived in a Bolero vehicle a week back to steal the pigs. She said that investigation is being conducted from various angles.
