Mangaluru: Gold ornaments stolen from locked house at Mulky

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 18: Theft occurred at a house near the government hospital at Karnad, Mulky, on Sunday when the family members were away for a day.

Kalbande House is a building located near the government hospital at Karnad. Two families normally live there. One of the families had left for Ullal 12 days back. The other family had left for Mangaluru on Saturday night. The family realised that their house was burgled on Sunday evening.

The bolt of the rear door was forced open with the help of an axe. The thieves sifted through six almirahs and searched for cash and gold. They also strew around things stuffed into a table drawer of the front room and two suitcases kept inside an almirah. They had thrown away valuable documents found in the almirah outside the house. About four sovereigns of gold ornaments were stolen, whereas imitation jewellery in the almirahs were left untouched.

The walls of the house bear marks created by the palms of two people. It is suspected that a gang of four to five persons would have committed this theft. It is almost clear that known people were involved, as they used the opportunity when both families were not present.

There is a CCTV camera near this house. But two days earlier, the shopkeeper who had installed the CCTV camera had changed the direction of the camera just two days ago.

Mulky police visited the spot and conducted spot inspection.

Our house was also robbed exactly the same way on 20th May 2009 in haleangady which is very near to mulky on the main highway. The events described in the article is exact replica of what happened to us 10 years ago. Only difference was they robbed when my in laws was sleeping in night . My father in law lost his life due to shock of theft. The mulky police was totally useless with their investigations. I am sure they will be same with this investigation aswell. Infact after three years of useless investigation from police they requested the lady of the house to withdraw the case so that they can close the file . Dakshina kannada police is totally useless in solving such cases . Their investigation is just a eye wash in front of people

What do you mean Mr. Pradosh by your statement, we do not need Police to protect us, we should protect ourselves. Comment to things when you hve knowledge. We are citizens of a democratic country and the things which is precious in our Indian household is always locked in safety. Every door of the house will be locked well before we sleep or we are out of the house and still there is robbery. What safety your talking about. We should keep things safely and allow any robber to enter our house in night and when we are not at home . Why this robbers team is allowed to roam freely in our locality can police answer it.

Mr pradosh... either you are entirely ignorant about the law system in our country or you have lost total faith in our law system ....probably thats why you commented that we should be responsible for our own safety .. if anything to go by your comments than we don't require police at all . Your comment shows either one of your near and dear ones work with incompetent dakhsina kannada police or you have still not gone through what our family has gone through .. God forbid if you or your family members happen to get robbed / assaulted ... i don't want to go any further ... you will be sitting in your home lecturing yourself and family about why you had not prepared for it in advance . Totally immature comment!!!!
