Bantwal, Aug 19: As per a government circular, devotees were not allowed inside the cave for a holy dip and only other traditional religious rituals were held at Sulla Male here on Wednesday.

Unlike other waterfalls, performing the Sullamale Ballamale Tirtha Snana (bath) is a challenging task here due to the terrain.

To take a dip at the Sullamale Ballamale falls, one has to walk several miles to the flat-topped mountains from Shambuga near Surime, Kalladka, situated in the midst of a forest area.

Temple priest Palaneeru Anantha Bhat Venkatesh Mayya, Maniguthu Sachin Rai and villagers were present in small numbers.

Every year devotees were permitted inside the cave bath from this day to Saturday’s Badrapada Chauthi, but the ban on entry and bath this year due to coronavirus regulations has disappointed innumerable devotees.
