Kasargod, Aug 26: Addressing a district-level corona advisory committee that was held on Wednesday, DC Dr Sajith Babu via video conference said, "There is no need to furnish a pass for daily travel from the district to Karnataka henceforth."

"The regular pass system has been withdrawn. It will be sufficient to carry a negative certificate of Antigen test and registration done in Covid-19 portal. All of that has been arranged at the Talapady checkpost. The details of passengers will be entered in a Google spreadsheet,” the DC said.

"Travel to Dakshina Kannada is permitted through NH66, Talapady, Panathoor, Manimoole, Perla, Jalsoor and other important roads. Travellers are required to undergo Antigen tests and should register themselves in COVID-19 portal," stressed the deputy commissioner.

"Local groups should appoint necessary health staff at the checkposts. Those who are arriving from Karnataka via Panathoor, Manimoole, Perla, Jalsoor roads to gram panchayat limits are not required to register. The respective gram panchayat has been authorized to determine whether the travellers proceed to other places beyond panchayat borders,” he added.

DSP D Shilpa, assistant DC Arun K Vijayan, district health officer Dr A V Ramadas, district additional DC N Devidas and other department officials were present.

It has been clarified by the Central Government through letter dtd. 22 Aug 2020 that no separate permission/approval/e-permit is required for inter-state movements. Hence it is unfair to advise and make the general public fool by asking to register in COVID-19 portal. It is unfortunate that the learned Officers are providing one-sided statements as there is no pass required for travelling from Kasaragod to Mangalore and hiding the requirements for return travel. The intentions are very clear as to put the general public in trouble as majority who depend on Mangalore for day to day employment/business, which is unfair and truly uncalled for.
