Beltangady: Mother follows son in death before his funeral

Beltangady, Sep 3: As per a report received from Nada village in the taluk, a resident of Surya Kananga House in the village died on September 1 and his mother died on the next day.

Krishna Bhat (72) died at around 7.30 pm on Tuesday. His mother Laxmi Amma (92) passed away early morning on Tuesday September 2.

Krishna Bhat was mentally dull and remained unmarried. His mother, who was looked after by her other sons, was taking care of Krishna Bhat. On September 1, Chandrashekhar fell ill and after preliminary care, he was taken to Beltangady government hospital but he breathed his last before reaching the hospital, it is learnt.

As per rule, Covid test was performed on him and the report received on September 2 confirmed that he was infected. In the meanwhile, his mother fell ill due to old age. She was being treated in a private hospital at Ujire, but she breathed her last on Tuesday.

Funeral of both the mother and the son were performed together at the graveyard at Ujire. The funeral of Krishna Bhat was performed under the guidance of taluk health officer Dr Kalamadhu, as he had tested positive for coronavirus, as per government rules.
