Mangaluru, Sep 4: Prashant Kumar Mishra has been posted as the new managing director (MD) of Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (MESCOM). MESCOM has jurisdiction over electricity supply to Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts. Mishra happens to be an IAS officer of the 2014 batch.

Mishra was earlier discharging duty as the chief executive officer of Mysuru zilla panchayat. Recently he was transferred from there after protests against him were held, holding him responsible for the suicide of taluk medical officer by bringing excessive pressure on the latter to improve performance under COVID-19 testing. At the time of his transfer, his place of new posting had not been shown.

Sources said that Mishra might take over the charge from Friday. He has come in place of IAS officer Snehal R who has been transferred as the director of PU education department at Bengaluru.
