Beltangady: Thieves break open lock, steal cash from petrol bunk

Beltangady, Sep 5: Unknown thieves broke open the lock of the shutter and glass door of Daikinahakatte petrol bunk near Punjalkatte and took away over one lac rupees kept in bags. The theft happened in the early hours of Friday September 4.

The said petrol bunk was open till 11.30 pm on September 3. At around 5.30 am on Friday, the bunk manager, Muhammed Shaqib, got a call from the staff to inform about the theft.

When the staff arrived at the petrol bunk, they found that Rs 1,21,344 in cash representing money collected at the petrol station during Thursday evening hours, which was kept in two bags which were placed inside the table drawer, had been taken away. On the basis of a complaint made by the manager of the petrol bunk, Punjalkatte police have registered a case and begun investigation.
