Udupi, Sep 7: ICYM Udyavar golden jubilee festival committee held a cleanliness drive in association with Lions Club Udyavar Sunshine and JCI Udyavar-Kutpady. They removed the grass that had grown on either side of the main roads in Udyavar, Kutpady, Kadekar and cleaned the areas by
disposing of the trash.

Udyavar St Francis Xavier church assistant parish priest, Fr Rolvin Aranha who set in motion the 20th programme of ICYM Udyavar golden jubilee festival committee said that we can be healthy only when our environment is clean. Like-minded organizations have begun a programme in that direction. We can remain healthy and stay away from contagious diseases if we clean our premises every week, he said.

Former district panchayat member Vaman Bangera said that lively organizations such as these will bring about cleanliness in the environment and progress in the villages.

Former taluk panchayat member, Girish Kumar Udyavar, Kutpady Ram Doot gym president Prasanna D Ameen, ICYM golden jubilee festival committee president Michael D’Souza, Lions Club Udyavar Sunshine president, Lion John Fernandes, secretary, Lion Jerald Pereira, treasurer, Lion Godfrey D’Souza, former president, Lion Henry D’Souza, JCI Udyavar Kutpady president, Jaycee Dayananda Shetty, ICYM Udyavar unit president, Royal Castelino, advisor, Royce Fernandes, Julia D’Souza, golden jubilee committee’s Ronald D’Souza, Wilfred D’Souza, John Gomes, Priyanka D’ Souza, Harry Pitrody, Edwin Mathais and others were present.

Cleanliness drive convener, veteran farmer, Julian Danti welcomed the gathering. Golden jubilee festival committee programme convenor, Steven Colaco Udyavar compered the programme and rendered a vote of thanks.

Members of Sangama Samskrita Vedike under the leadership of former taluk panchayat vice president, Ganesh Kumar Sampige also took part in the cleanliness drive in Kutpady, Sanjaynagar.
