Udupi, Sep 11: The district deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha has asked officials to prepare a plan to make the district drug free. He was speaking while presiding over a meeting of Nasha Mukth Bharath at the DC office on Friday.

“Register cases against heads of institutions if consumption of drugs is being carried out in the concerned school or college campuses. Provide counselling for drug addicts. The police department should conduct more investigation and unexpected raids in this matter," he added.

"The place for additional parking in Udupi has been identified. Zebra crossings and speed bumps should be installed in a scientific manner. Accidents have increased on national highways in the district. Over 260 people have lost their lives in accidents in the last year. Black spots should be marked on national highways so that accidents may be reduced at least by 10 per cent. The work should begin on priority. Road dividers should be formed from Indrali to Tiger circle. Speed bumps should be erected on Gundibail-Doddanagudde road and at Shastri circle junction,” he ordered.

Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu, RTO Ramakrishna Rai, municipal commissioner Anand Kallolikar and other officials were present.
