'Convergence of cyber space and physical space is technology of the future'

Bengaluru, Sep 14: "The convergence of cyberspace and physical space will be the upcoming technology that will have a huge impact on all sectors including economy," said the deputy chief minister, Dr C N Ashwatha Narayana in the city on Monday.

Dr Ashwatha Narayana, who is also the minister for IT/BT and Science & Technology, inaugurated the 'India Innovative Summit-2020', organized by CII on Monday through an online platform.

The summit having 'Resilience-Resurgence' as its theme, is being held for four days with wide-ranging discussions, interactions and deliberations.

"This convergence technology makes use of emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accurately analyze the larger amount of data that would be collected by the sensors deployed in physical space," he explained.

He said, "Convergence would lead to a drastic impact on medical, agriculture and other sectors and would impact the education sector as well in a bigger way, particularly in the backdrop of the New Education Policy 2020, which is going to be implemented.

"The government is very eager to adopt and encourage this convergence technology. This is expected to enable the government to enhance its resilience, accountability, transparency and performance several times higher," he said pointing out that this a very good blend of short term 'survival' strategy and mid-term 'growth strategy'.

Dr E V Ramana Reddy, additional chief secretary, IT and BT & Science & Technology & Higher Education, Government of Karnataka, Dr Omkar Rai, director-general, Software Technology Parks of India, Kris Gopalakrishnan, chairman, CII India Innovation Summit and chairman, Sandeep Singh, chairman, CII Karnataka State Council, Ramesh Ramadurai, vice chairman, CII Karnataka State Council and managing director, 3M India Ltd attended and addressed the session.
