Kasargod: Special police team formed to crush criminal elements around Manjeshwar

Kasargod, Sep 17: A special police team has been formed to keep an eye on and crush with iron hand underground elements, goondas and mafia in Manjeshwar area.

A police team headed by deputy superintendent of police, Balakrishnan Nair has been formed for the purpose. The police have got information that people with criminal antecedents not only from Kerala but also from other states have settled down around Manjeshwar.



Raids are being conducted to find out the hideouts of the criminals. Over 25 spots have already been raided. The raids are also aimed at finding out the present whereabouts of people whose names figure in cases in Manjeshwar police station who have escaped. The raids are aimed at finding people involved with goondaism, mafia, intoxicating substances peddling and sale, and other cases.

Many accused are going missing after getting involved with drug peddling and other criminal activities. The raids have been concentrated in the Manjeshwar area as there is information about the criminals finding safe hideouts at the Manjeshwar border.

The said team has been formed under D Shilpa, district superintendent of police. Manjeshwar station police circle inspector, Anoop, and sub-inspector, Raghavan are also part of the team.
