Kasargod, Sep 19: In a significant judgment, the Kerala high court has ordered to throw open the Kerala-Karnataka border and allow free travel. It said that no restrictions can be placed by the state government on inter-state travel.

Advocate and Kasargod district BJP president, K Srikanth, had filed the public interest litigation (PIL) on this issue. The high court which conducted the hearing in the case passed an order on Friday September 18. Srikanth has thanked people who extended support to the cause.

Even after unblock 3 and 4 were brought into force, Kerala government and Kasargod district administration had not allowed free travel through the state border with Karnataka. Although the union home ministry issued a clarification, Kasargod district administration had continued to exercise rules in road other than Talapady, Manimoole, Bandadka and Jalsoor. The PIL had questioned the authority of the district administration in imposing restrictions.
