Udupi: Gangadhar Hiregutti selected for Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty Journalism Award

Udupi, Sep 22: “Karavali Munjavu daily newspaper editor, Gangadhar Hiregutti is selected for annual journalism award being presented in the name of Mungaru newspaper editor, late Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty,” said Brahmavar taluk Patrakartara sangha president, Chittur Prabhaker Acharya in a press conference in Brahmavar.

“Gangadhar Hiregutti who began his career distributing newspapers saw several dreams of journalism since his childhood. He later worked as Uttara Kannada district reporter for Mungaru daily newspaper. He began Karavali Munjavu daily newspaper subsequent to it which is identified as one of the popular newspapers in the state. Hiregutti also received Mahare Hanumantaraya national award for his achievement. It is a matter of pride to present the award to Hiregutti who has inculcated the ideals and pro-society stand of the journalism of Vaddarse,” he said.

“The award will be handed over in Brahmavar Bantara Bhavan on October 11 at 4.30 pm by well-known author Ambatanaya Mudradi. Several elite people will be present at the programme,” said Chittur Prabhaker Acharya.
