Mangalore, if developed into a tourist destination by the Govt, it has very, very big potential to earn foreign exchange and employment to the locals. The Govt should understand that the tourists coming to our region are from the developed western countries and there the surroundings are very neat & clean. All the infra-structures are well developed and highly disciplined. We should create that atmosphere in this region. We should create awareness of not chewing paan/gutka, not throwing thrash anywhere other than dust bins, not peeing on the roadside, the buildings in the city-centre badly needed face-lifting etc. Once the concreting of the roads are completed they should be maintained like the roads abroad with sufficient lightings, hoardings, greeneries and plants, the vehicle owners should be disciplines of correct driving, use of correct indicator signals, totally no honking, stopping only at the stipulated parking bay or the well maintained bus-stops etc. Introduce mini-shuttle buses and ban all heavy vehicles inside the city centre from Kottara, Nanthur, Pumpwell and Jeppuna Mogaru from 8 am to 8 pm.
Develop Kudroli, Kadri & Mangala Temple, Aloysius Chapel & Rosario Church, Pumpwell Mosque etc. with spacey car-park, clean toilets, cafeteria, modern guide-booklets, sophisticated souvenirs, English/French speaking guides etc. in Mangalore. Develop potential surrounding regions like Pulikula, Heritage village, Cashew Factories, Tile Factories, all season Kambala etc.
