Karkala, Apr 17: Vadiraja Upadhyaya (66), a scholar in Vedic rites from Mudrady village in the taluk, died of cardiac arrest on Thursday April 15.
Upadhyaya, who drew widespread respect for his knowledge and noble ideals, had lost his son, Raghavendra Upadhyaya, in a motor bike accident 12 days ago. He was riding in the pillion of the ill-fated motor bike his son was riding, which met with an accident. He survived in the accident. He had greatly been agonized by the shock and grief of losing his son in front of his eyes.
Upadhyaya, who was making preparations for the post-funeral rites of his son, suddenly collapsed due to cardiac arrest and lost his life. He is survived by wife.
