Beltangady, Apr 22: It is alleged, that a couple living in Kundadka in Kaukrady village near Nelyady threw acid at their two women neighbourers on Wednesday April 21. Zohara (40), wife of Isubu, her sister, Mariamma (55), children, Hafifa (2) and Hafulachi (5) were injured in the incident. It is said that the injured have a long-standing property dispute with the couple.
In a complaint filed with the policemen, the injured women stated that P J Thomas and his wife, Sini Thomas, entered their kitchen through the backdoor on Wednesday afternoon, and threw acid on them by pouring it into a coconut shell from a bottle.
The two families have a decade-old feud relating to property. Isubu had, in the past, filed a complaint with the district superintendent of police in this respect.
Zohara and Mariamma, who suffered serious injuries, were admitted into Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore. The two children escaped with minor injuries. Both P J Thomas, and his wife, Sini, got admitted into a private hospital in Puttur, complaining of ill health. They have complained that a 20 people-strong crowd had attacked them.
Complaints have been registered against both the parties involved.

Thu, Apr 22 2010Looks like number of families from neighboring states are encroached in Beltangady and showing their muscle power and crookedly getting admitted to hospital to hide their crime. This couple should be rewarded with harsh punishment for throwing acid on their neighbors.
