Kundapur, Nov 7: Veteran Yakshagana artiste, famous actor, Malpe Vasudev Samaga (71) passed away in the morning of November 7.

He had widely travelled for Yakshagana plays and helped in the progress of the traditional art. He used to participate in the plays even at the age of 70.

He resided in Koteshwar, began his career in Amratheshwar mela and got himself molded as an artiste in the company of Naranappa Uppoor, Kota Vaikunta, M A Nayak, Jagannath Shetty and Gode Narayana Hegde.

He has entertained audiences in Dharmastala, Kadri, Surathkal, Saligrama, Perdur, Bagwadi and Saukoor melas.

He has enacted in most Yakshagana parts of Ramayana and Mahabharata. His passing away has caused irreparable loss to the Yakshagana sector.
